"Sono passati 12 anni dal Mondiale vinto dall'Italia a Berlino. Il 12 luglio 2006 Fabio Grosso realizzò il rigore decisivo che piegò la Francia e consegnò all'Italia la Coppa del Mondo.

"L'allenatore del Verona fu impiegato titolare a partire dalla terza partita del torneo, contro la Repubblica Ceca, dimostrandosi determinante per la vittoria finale procurandosi un rigore decisivo contro l'Australia realizzato da Totti, e segnando il 4 luglio un gran gol, quello dell'1-0 contro la Germania in semifinale, prima della girandola dei rigori con la Francia conclusa in gloria col suo tiro mancino che non lasciò scampo a Barthez.
